Using an RC key on Windows 7 Build 7264
The latest RTM build candidate for Windows 7 (build 7264) has, of course, slipped out onto the internet. However, for those wishing to play with it there is a problem – the keys supplied by Microsoft for the previous beta and release candidate builds won’t work on this build.
Not to worry – there is a work-around that will enable you to use your existing Windows 7 key on build 7264. This is not for the feint-hearted and do not try this at home unless (a) you know what you’re doing, (b) you’re willing to risk it not working and messing up your PC and (c) you’re one of those types that really doesn’t care about the dangers of downloading a dodgy copy of an as yet unreleased operating system from an unknown source.
